As you well know, South Africa is a desired destination to many people overseas. We have it all here, the beauty, the charm, the history, even the lifestyle. We at Allinterns are helping to bring foreign students into the country. We offer students of all ages the opportunity to finish up their studies in a practical environment. They complete their last months of the fields they are studying in to gain extra points for future employment.
There is a large market of overseas students (mostly Western European and all English speaking) who are willing to do their internships in a South-African company. Some of them will gain experience by working in different fields within a company, others will work on performing research such as market research, analysis of the competitors, return on investments etc. This can be very useful and informative for a company. They work with a fresh state of mind, which often leads to different and unexpected points of view. This type of ‘out of the box’ thinking can really prove successful to companies. Most of the students work 50% of their time doing research and the other 50% on other types of typical work that has to be done for the company.
It is not only beneficial for the company to have a free employee as the interns are getting the opportunity to develop their personal skills and their international working experience abroad.
We are very selective, always trying to find the right intern for the right company. Our goals are to deliver top quality and useful interns to interested companies whilst on the other hand ensuring interesting and challenging internships for our students. We believe that this is the way to success!
Most of our students are in their third or last year of studies and have been working for other companies so they’d not be too wet behind the ears in the workplace.
If a company wants to receive an intern, they would have to provide a workstation, with an Internet connection. Keep in mind that most students work 5 days a week 8 hours a day!
The best way to work with an intern is to supply them with interesting and challenging work, treat them like real employees and if possible give them some responsibilities. Think of what they can do for the company before they come, and tell them exactly what their main objective will be for a certain period of time.
A quick review:
What can we offer the company?
- All types of quality students from overseas (marketing, communication, IT, sales, business management, design, etc.)
- The students will work for free
- The students have the ability to do interesting research
- The students would potentially be able to help you get through some of the load of typical, and perhaps more menial, work that needs to be completed on a daily basis.
What we ask from the company?
- A workstation and Internet.
- A plan of what the student has to do, with a certain emphasis on tasks relating to their studies. (e.g. market research, development of new strategies, developing e-brochures etc.)
- A contact person for the student, who will coach them when needed and help them out with any questions or feedback.
If you have any questions or would like an intern at your company, please don’t hesitate to [contact us].
