Café Maxim

Café Maxim
Some info:

Opened in February 2006, Café Maxim is a new style of dining in the heart of historical De Waterkant, Cape Town. Entrepreneur, Malcolm Westmore, in looking for a platform to showcase the premier fashion jewellery brand MAXIM, decided to create a unique boutique fashion concept. He was introduced to the famous French bakery Poilâne by the president of Saks 5th Avenue, New York and the unique idea was born.

States Malcolm, “Both fashion and food are forever at the forefront in social circles and what better way to provide a platform for both? Café Maxim is a tribute to sophistication which exposes guests to both the finest Poilâne bread, that we courier in from Paris, and to the fashion brand MAXIM – offering a cuisine of haute couture.”

Until Café Maxim, the fame of the Poilâne bread and indeed la tartine – imported French Poilâne bread served lightly toasted awakened with gourmet toppings – was not known in Africa. It has been the gourmet bread of choice with the likes of the Royal Family of Monaco and movie stars such as Al Pacino, for many years. Now, Café Maxim has the exclusive rights to import the Poilâne bread in to South Africa.

Café Maxim knew that it took a very special person to create the menu and after a lengthy search to find the talent, desire and passion, Executive Chef, Anna Ridgewell stepped up to the spotlight and has choreographed a glamorous menu that has the most seasoned traveller bedazzled by its detail – every day is a culinary fashion show at Café Maxim.

Café Maxim, Cape Town joins SAKS 5th Avenue, New York, as one of the international tartineries on the Poilâne map.

Café Maxim is open from 08.30 – 18:00, Monday – Friday and Saturday from 09:00 – 13:00. Café Maxim is perfect for breakfast or lunch or to simply indulge in a glass of Billecart-Salmon champagne after work with your favourite tartine.
