Capsolys: Things are as they are

Capsolys: Things are as they are

Some info:
This local artist and locally produced album may cause confusion amongst hip-hop fans in relation to its origins. Superficially the album appears to be another American-produced album: the artist on the front cover, staring at the camera, and the ubiquitous “parental advisory” warning just below. Yet upon listening, the thought provoking and, at times, refreshing lyrics leave the listener with a sense that the South African music scene is ‘on the up and up’. It makes a pleasant change to hear of local cities and people in songs as apposed to the importation of lyrics that have no social bearing on those that listen to them.

With collaborations from artists such as Tumi and Tamara Day, this album is truly proudly South African. Whilst there are a number of tracks that deserve mention, the ones that genuinely stick out are ‘how r things’ as well as Capsolys rendition of ‘Down paradise rd’. Overall, this album deserves much credit and hopefully many more to come.
