Cassie’s “Me and U” is the song of the summer — not a bad debut for this nineteen-year-old New York model turned starlet. The second single, the swirling “Long Way 2 Go,” is just as irresistible. Cassie shines with her understated cool. The style of the record is basically R&B and pop, and the songs are arranged in an up-to-date manner with plain repeating electronic hooks built around light catchy melodies. As for the vocal parts, Cassie cannot boast a breathtaking voice, but its sensuality adds a special flavor to her songs. Within most of the songs, there’s the kernel of a good idea although it pretty much stays ‘average’.
