Ghosts of Castle Good Hope

Some info: | |
The Castle Good Hope was the centre of all activity on Cape Town for 150 years. It was also the site of gruesome punishments, tortures and executions, which have given rise to many ghostly tales. Footsteps have been heard pacing along the battlements between the bastions of Leerdam & Buren; after World War II these sounds were accompanied by a floating human shape. This ghost could be that of a soldier who hanged himself from the bell rope in the tower 3 hundred years ago. Lights go on and off in the barracks at night. A sad-faced lady in a long grey cloak also walks at night. And the smiling ghost of Lady Anne Barnard (who lived in the castle for 5 years from 1797) has been joining evening parties in the ballroom, dressed in a ball gown of that age.
