GoldFrapp: Supernatural

Goldfrapp has developed from electro-rock outsiders to one of the UK’s most original and respected acts. The opening track ‘Ooh La La’ is both highly charged and deeply seductive. After hearing this song once you will hum the chorus at least twice. It is unexplainably catchy. ‘You Never Know’ is another good song, but at first appears dislocated and disjointed. After a few listens it becomes clear that it is carefully calculated and strategically staggered. ‘Let It Take You’ really sums up this record, breathing calm into everyone who hears it.

Building on the success of 2000’s release ‘Felt Mountain’, and 2003’s ‘Black Cherry’, ‘Supernatural’ has it all. Surprisingly, the standout track, ‘Number 1’, is saved until last. Is. The charming chorus from this song is reason enough to buy this record. This is a superb record, with tracks for all occasions. Goldfrapp bring an air of nonchalance to the music scene that has not been witnessed for many years.
