Herbie Hancock: Possibilities

Herbie Hancock is a stone monster of the modern jazz piano, although not as familiar as Santana or Ray Charles. It is more than likely that “Possibilities” will be a major hit. It is stunning from start to finish and features an all-star cast including Paul Simon, Christina Aguilera (music), John Mayer (music), Sting and Trey Anastasio (music). It kicks off with the radio-friendly “Stitched Up,” a solid piece of pop-rock that features a breathy Mayer on vocals, and slides naturally into the groovy Latin-flavored “Safiatou,” which showcases Santana on guitar and Angelique Kidjo at the mic. Paul Simon lays down his best vocal work in years on a sweet version of “I Do It for Your Love” and Sting does great with “Sister Moon”. It is an album full of happy moments with Christina Aguilera’s “A Song For You” as the definite highlight – a true eye-opener!
