Kenny Rogers: 21 Number Ones

Korn: See you on the other side

Korn: See you on the other side

Some info:
“See You on the Other Side” follows the not so successful “Take a Look in the Mirror” from Korn. On this album they display a new level of melodiscm without sacrificing too much of their heaviness. The first two songs are good, both joining together nicely. ‘Hypocrites’ and ‘Sovenier Of Sadness’ both rely on riffs and the heavy distorted rumbling of the rhythm section rather than particular great guitar work. It does appear that the band is missing their departed founder guitarist Brian “Head” Welch. A highlight arrives with ‘Coming Undone’, a track leaning towards the approach of Marilyn Manson musically.

The album grows on you, it’s not as heavy as their previous albums, but this makes space for more melody. “See You On The Other Side” is a very listenable album overall, pretty consistent writing wise, if perhaps lacking moments of ‘wow’or the sheer thrilling excitement of prime-time Korn of old.

Some info:
A universally-known icon of American country music, Kenny Rogers is a living legend with an extensive history of success, including 26 Gold records and a Diamond-certified Greatest Hits album that has sold more than 12 million copies. The only song on this greatest hits package that wasn’t a #1 hit is the duet he does with Kim Carnes called “Don’t Fall In Love With A Dreamer.” Every song on this greatest hits package is the original recording. Some of the standouts in this collection are “Daytime Friends,” “Morning Desire,” and “Buy Me A Rose,” a song he recorded with Alison Krauss & Billy Dean.

Kenny Rogers also has several duets on this greatest hits collection. There are three songs with Dottie West. They are: “Every Time Two Fools Collide,” “All I Ever Need Is You,” and “What Are We Doing In Love.” Other duets are, with Dolly Parton, “Islands In The Stream,” with Ronnie Milsap, “Make No Mistake, She’s Mine” and with Sheena Easton, “We’ve Got Tonight.” It’s an outstanding collection of 22 of Kenny Rogers biggest hits on one CD.
