PREMIER FOODS, METRO FM, 5FM, GOOD HOPE FM, SABC 1 and BIG CONCERTS are proud to announce the biggest ever line-up of Hip Hop heavyweights and R&B superstars SA has ever seen – THE PEOPLES CELEBRATION CONCERT.

The star-studded line-up includes Hip Hop Icon Snoop Dogg, music phenomenon Pharrell Williams, dancehall superstar Sean Paul, superlative singing sensation Mario, Caribbean Queen, Rihanna, and the hottest acts SA has to offer!

The Peoples Celebration Concert is being held in celebration of Premier Foods becoming the biggest 100% Black - owned company in South Africa… The Peoples Promise Delivered! Kicking off on the 27th of April at Johannesburg Stadium, it then heads to the ABSA Stadium, Durban on the 29th, and on to the Green Point Stadium in Cape Town, on the 1st of May.

The continuous ten-hour world-class event is the first of its kind in the country, and is brought to you in conjunction with the biggest ever on-pack promotion run by Premier Foods and their Peoples Brands.

SNOOP DOGG is a musical and cultural icon, hip-hop Renaissance man, entrepreneur, and Hollywood heavyweight – the hottest commodity in the world of entertainment! His rise to fame began in 1993 with the release of his debut album Doggystyle. Fueled by the rapper’s street credentials and criminal infamy, the anticipation for the album was unprecedented – selling 1.5 million albums in advance of the release, and was also the first debut rap album to hit the charts at number one. By the time his second album, The Doggfather was released the following year, Doggystyle had already gone quadruple platinum! He was the embodiment of 90’s Gangsta Rap, contributing songs to a number of movie soundtracks including Bad Boys II and Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle. Snoop’s 2003 “Project Revolution” tour added a “rock” flare to his old and new school favourites, and saw a musical collaboration with rock bands Lincoln Park and Korn His eighth studio album, Snoop Dogg R&G: Rhythm & Gangsta The Masterpiece, cemented his superstar status, with the mega-hits Drop It Like Its Hot, Lets Get Blown and Signs, all climbing the charts.

With his phenomenal music career, and starring roles in on the big screen, (including Box Office favourites, Starsky & Hutch and Training Day), Snoop has become such a cultural phenomenon that his albums almost became secondary to the personality behind them!

SEAN PAUL, the worldwide ambassador of dancehall reggae, brings his raw uncut Jamaican dancehall to the line-up, and will have you jumping on reggae beats! He has won numerous prestigious awards, including the Grammy for Best Reggae Album, along with nominations in the Best Male Rap Solo Performance and Best New Artist categories, MTV Europe’s Best New Artist Award, MTV Video Music Award and American Music Award nominations, and earned Source, MOBO, Juno, Much Music, and International Reggae and World Music awards.

His Grammy-winning breakthrough album, “Dutty Rock” sold over 6 Million copies worldwide, generating plenty of street heat. Sean blazed a firestorm of hit tunes – from “Gimme The Light” to “Get Busy” to “Like Glue” – that went straight from the hardcore dancehall audience to the international market. Then came the massive duets, “Baby Boy” (with Beyoncé) and “I’m Still In Love With You” (with Sasha), which kept the flame burning bright and swelled the ranks of believers even more. Carrying on the work of dancehall superstars like Yellowman, Shabba Ranks, Super Cat, and Beenie Man in bringing the infectious sound of the Kingston streets to a wider audience. His highly anticipated follow-up album, “The Trinity” is a spiritual concept that signifies a unity of three-in-one, it also represents the third leg of a journey that began with Sean Paul’s 1999 album, “Stage One” and his almost supernatural ability to create irresistible hooks that can fill up any dance floor.

By the time MARIO was in elementary school, he was already developing harmonies, constructing melodies and finding inspiration in a range of artists including Stevie Wonder, Brian McKnight, Usher and Joe. His infectious single “Just a Friend”, off his debut self-titled album, was released to critical acclaim by both critics and fans alike! They were quick to praise his superlative singing and appeal. After hitting the road as the opening act for Bow Wow, he toured as part of the “Scream 3 Tour”, which also boasted B2K, Nick Cannon and Marques Houston. Mario’s sophomore album, Turning Point, is filled with aching ballads, introspective sentiment, and hot club tunes. The first single, “Let Me Love You”, contains the ingredients that turn what is essentially a charming ballad into the monster hit it has become.

RIHANNA, the Barbados-born beauty has re-energized the music scene with her rich, cultural fusion of dancehall and raga, with a fresh R&B soul sound. Her powerful singing voice conjures up feelings and experiences way beyond her years, and she is a talented songwriter who has co-written much of her album. The green-eyed beauty solidified a recording contract with the multi-million dollar record company, Def Jam Recordings, after her impromptu show for CEO, Jay Z. Rihanna’s debut album, Music of The Sun, was nominated for 2005’s Record of The Year, and has all the ingredients that make musical magic. Her first single "Pon De Replay", a catchy mixture of handclaps and drum rhythms, debuted at No.2 on the UK Singles chart, and has been mashing up dancehalls worldwide!

Pharrell Williams has already made history for being one of the most successful and prolific producers to emerge during the last decade. As part of the beat-making duo The Neptunes, Pharrell and his partner Chad Hugo have helped A-List pop stars sell millions of albums and win Grammy Awards. While producers are typically faceless, behind-the-scenes types, Pharrell has managed to become a star in his own right. It is usually his voice behind the infectious choruses for his hits, and his handsome face has been known to steal scenes in the accompanying music videos. He is also a member of the Grammy award winning, alternative rock trio N.E.R.D., the fly-or-die, thrash-around, set-your-soul-on-fire, alter-ego offspring of the Neptunes. N.E.R.D (No One Ever Really Dies) has released two critically acclaimed, platinum albums, “In Search Of…” and “Fly Or Die”. The Neptunes’ credits have included everyone from Ol’ Dirty Bastard, No Doubt, Janet, Britney Spears, *NSYNC, TLC, Usher, Mary J. Blige, Toni Braxton, Kelis, Busta Rhymes, Babyface, Mariah Carey and Justin Timberlake.

In addition to his well-known hits, Pharrell will also be performing a selection of his N.E.R.D. chartbusters like “Rock Star” and “She Wants to Move” during his performances at the upcoming Peoples Celebration Concert.

The continuous ten-hour world-class event is the first of its kind in the country, and will be filmed by SABC 1 for broadcast, reaching 23 million people across South Africa.
