This 2 week clubbing escapade is nearly upon us
17 February 3 March 2007
In association with:
Global Underground Rennaissance Azuli Defected Toolroom Records
Dance in locations you have only ever visited in your dreams.
Party with the most exciting DJs in the worldŠ. Discover an experience like no other! Global Breakthrough is already a phenomenon all over the world, but is South
Africa ready for what is just around the corner now? Can Cape Town rival
Ibiza? The answer to that is not far away. December was all about lockingdown locations to dates and it most definitely was worth the wait. Now with flights and accommodation quickly being snapped up, there is no better time to book your escape to dreamland than now.
The opening party on Saturday 17 February kicks off in Camps Bay at Global Breakthrough¹s sundowner residency, Caf* Caprice. As the sun melts into the Atlantic Ocean in front of you, Notting Hill Carnival favourite Sir Norman Jay kicks off the beat mixing up his unique blend of funk, soul and house.
He is arguably one of the finest and most respected deejays in the world today whose talents and many years of dedicated service to his profession have now seen him rightfully acknowledged by the highest authority in the land.
On Saturday 15th June 2002, Norman was officially cited in the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Birthday Honours List with the recommendation that he be appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire, an MBE no less, awarded on merit for "deejaying and services to music".
From legendary DJ to legendary label, nothing encapsulates dance music's international explosion and restless creativity quite like Global Underground. And so after a well deserved dose of ³Good Times², the party
then moves up the road for a monster session with GU and Lee Burridge at the warehouse adjoining Opium.
Next door in the front room overlooking the courtyard is Defected featuring the deep and soulful DJ Spen. Defected consistently attracts some of the greatest talents working in the industry, regularly trumping the majors with crossover hits and media attention, and never far from the boxes of theworld¹s best DJs.
Wednesday 21 February is a special event where 2 London residents battle it out against 2 Cape Town residents at a Location TBC.
Friday 23 February is another massive double header when Renaissance featuring wonder boy James Zabiela and Toolroom Records featuring head honcho label boss Mark Knight venture 20 minutes out of town to Bloemendal wine estate each staking their claim in the valley of dreams. Make sure your camera is ready to shoot and roll with 270¹ mesmerizing views of Table Mountain and the whole of Cape Town.
From winelands to oceans Cass & Friends crank it up at a secret ocean view location on Saturday 24 February joined by Jonty Skrufff and special surprise guest. Expect more of that filthy electro house music from sunset to stardust.
Yes, fish dig bass. Wednesday 28 February Ame goes deep and takes on The Shark Predator Tank at The Aquarium for this very exclusive event. Ame¹s track Rej is without a doubt the most played track of the summer on all hot dance floors globally and now it¹s your turn to see the producer behind this killer track live, up close and personal.
Friday 2 March take a walk on the wild side with minimal connoisseur Steve Bug (Poker Flat) as he headlines The Lion¹s Den at the Rhodes Memorial Old Zoo. Two SA exports, minimal, tech house rising stars Shane Watcha and Claudia Lovisa will also make their presence felt for what is set to be an unforgettable night.
On Saturday 3 March, the final event is hosted by The Diamond Club-Ibiza providing a decadent night out at Zep Tepi with special guest Clive Henry (Peace Division / Circo Loco DC10 Ibiza).
