Nickleback: All the right reasons

2005 sees Nickelback continuing on the path to heaviness — even the ballads are tougher than their trademark fare from the late ’90s. The southern rock-ish “Rock Star” and the anthemic “Photograph” are among their best songs yet. This, the follow-up album to the massive hit album Silver Side Up, Long Road is one of the absolute surprises of the year. It is a stunning rock album. It debuted at the top of the billboard charts, and sold 335 000 copies in its first week. It is as if the songs on this one are much better written which makes this a better quality album than their first release. Vocalist Chad Kroeger really finds his stride as a songwriter on this album, capturing the message of each song a lot better.
