Tygerberg Children’s Choir’s

The Tygerberg Children’s Choir’s annual Christmas Concerts are the perfect way to get into the Christmas spirit.

It’s time again for the highly acclaimed Tygerberg Children’s Choir’s very popular annual Christmas concerts. The choir celebrates its 39th year, and was crowned world champions in two categories at the 6th World Choir Games in Shaoxing, China during July last year. This major achievement catapulted the choir to the number 4 over-all position on the official Musica Mundi world ranking list for competition choirs.

The choir has, as usual, compiled a varied programme which will appeal to young and old. This year’s concert is entitled ‘Peace on Earth/Vrede op Aarde’ and promises once again to be a spectacle of sound and light. Favourites such as Agnus Dei, O Holy Night, the Gounod Ave Maria, Santa Claus is Comin’ To Town, O Come All Ye Faithful and Es ist ein Ros Entsprungen can be heard. The concerts will also feature the superb vocal group The Voice of Angels, all members of Tygerberg Children’s Choir. Contributors: Madri Gerber (violin) Annatjie Brand (Organ) Karina Erasmus (double bass) and Charl van Heyningen (narrator).

The choir has been under the baton of internationally respected conductor Hendrik D. Loock since its inception, with Theresa Loock as accompanist and arranger.

The concerts will take place in the Endler Hall, University of Stellenbosch, on the following dates and times:

Sunday 20 November at 15h00

Sunday 27 November at 15h00

Sunday 4 December at 15h00

Sunday 11 December at 15h00

There will be an additional concert in the Cape Town City Hall on Saturday 3 December at 20h00.

Tickets cost R90pp (R70 for students and scholars)

Bookings: Computicket

The choir’s new Christmas DVD will also be available at the performances.

The choir will celebrate its 40-year reunion from 7-9 December 2012, and all ex-choristers and interested parties are requested to contact the choir as early as possible at info@tcc.co.za. The reunion promises to be a very special one indeed!
